Rust by any Other Name
Rust is a great thing. No really. It has some admirable properties.
You take nice shiny, hard and durable shell. These things seem impervious, strong, impenetrable. Hard stuff.
Now take the smallest exposure, the tiniest crack in the paint, the covering. Suddenly this shiny hard metal starts turning into a soft, spreading patch. If left alone the rust will continue until it permeates the surface, getting under the paint, in the welds, growing toward the core of the material with slow determination.
Rust affects the hard exterior of many things. It opens up pinpoints where the rust can spread. Think of them as windows allowing the elements to affect the metal. Tiny areas where the actual composition of the material changes.
It also seems the older the material is, or something that is exposed to the destructive forces outside, anything that rubs against something else, any part that experiences heavy loads, or is stretched or squeezed throughout its life are more prone to rust.
Rust is wonderful isn't it! Once it gets in it likes to stay!
....
Now, read this article again, but replace the word "Rust" with "Love."
